Kalye ng Colon or the Colon Street also known as the Queen City if the South is the oldest and shortest national road in the philippines. Colon Street also is a historical street in Cebu City. Before Colon Street is a crowded place and it has lots of houses but now in recent years the Colon Street is much more modern and diverse by commercial and business district that spreads almost in urban Cities. Colon considered residential and leisure settlements among tourist in the Philippines. It surrounded by many public schools and universities.
It may look like any ordinary street but this crowded stretch overflowing with shops, stalls, sidewalk vendors, people, and passenger jeepneys is, believe it or not, the oldest in the Philippines. Before the way of transportation of a person is called Kalesa. It was named after Italian explorer Christopher Columbus, who sailed for the king and queen of Spain and whose name translates in Spanish to Cristobal Colon. Colon Street connects to the old Chinese , where wealthy Chinese-Filipino merchants used to live and do their trade. Up until now more Chinese was merchants lived and having a business here in this street. Now, Colon is a jumble of mid-size department stores, a university and some computer schools, movie houses, fast-food restaurants, grocery stores, shops selling glasses, phones, appliances, and other stuff, and stalls displaying dresses and movie and music DVDs. The street has developed a bad reputation through the years as a lair of pickpockets and snatchers. If you do decide to check out this historic street in Cebu, go with a group. Don’t wear jewelry or bring valuables with you. It is also considered as a red place because it has many events were in troublemaker lived.

Old Colon Street
If you want to travel and go to the Colon Street and if yopu are in Cebu City, getting to Colon is easy. Almost all jeepneys that flies different city routes end up in or close to Colon Street. By taxi, Colon Street is 15-20 minutes away from SM or Ayala.
